Learning to pumpfoil, like many other sports skills, is all about muscle memory. Our heads can’t think about all the details to take care of when jumping and pumping at the same time, so your job is to build muscle memory for each small goal one by one and then move on to the next goal.
You can’t spend the first day thinking about how to do the perfect pumpfoil because you have to focus on other things beforehand, even if you think you’ll progress faster, all you’ll do is stop thinking about the previous step for which you haven’t yet built muscle memory and you’ll fail.
That’s why I’ve ordered the goals in the order I achieved them, and I think that’s the most natural way, but someone might find it more comfortable to do it in another way, so if you find that you’ve been stuck for a couple of sessions, you can try changing the order, but always think about the next step when you’ve built up a decent muscle memory of the previous one.
