The first day I tried to dock start I don’t think I did more than 10 jumps because I was scared. On the one hand I wasn’t wearing the recommended safety equipment. Also I saw the foil close by several times because it wasn’t giving me enough speed in the race and I already mentioned that the most dangerous falls are at low speed.
If you are still scared you have one last option, if you have a handmade board, you can cut a scooter and screw it to the board. In this way, by holding the board with your hands (through the handlebars), you make sure that you will always fall on the opposite side of the foil. Later, when you have gotten over your fear, you will have time to decide whether to continue with the handlebars or remove them.
I’ll show you some photos of a test I did by screwing a handlebar to my pine board.

The problem was that the base of the scooter had a very soft metal and after a few jumps it broke.

One last option is to buy an aquaskipper, which I haven’t tried. It looks like a bike, but you ride on your feet and you have the help of springs to pump. But I think this takes you quite far from the initial objective.
