When you are able to pump 50 meters in a straight line, paddling turns become difficult, so it is time to learn to turn so as not to go too far.
I turn quite intuitively using only the back foot. When the board is pressed down, I take advantage of the opportunity to give it a little more force with the toe or heel to give it a little inclination.
Start by giving it a little more force, and feeling how it responds and little by little you will be able to make the turn tighter. To turn it is important to have good speed. When you are turning you will lose speed, so a trick is to do some quick pumps to gain height and return to pumping at a slower pace.
Start by turning towards your good side, that is, if you bring your right foot forward to the left, and if you bring your left foot to the right.
I got my first turn to the pier in my 14th session. Although I couldn’t record it because I ran out of battery.
Once you manage to complete the turn, the challenge will be to get the foil flat again and continue straight. On low aspect foils it is relatively easy, on high aspect foils it becomes a little more difficult to get it straight again.
I achieved this in my 15th session
