Now you know how to pump so it’s time to try other front wings, or try other stabilizers, because now you are able to distinguish the performance between one and the other.
Buy second-hand equipment to try it out, if you keep an eye on the market and buy with a bit of an eye you can sell it later at a similar price without losing money but taking away an interesting experience.
If the equipment you buy is from the same brand and is compatible with what you already have, you can exchange masts, front wings, stabilizers and so you will learn about the differences between each one. Being told about it is good but you won’t understand the differences until you try it for yourself.
You can also exchange equipment with other pumpfoilers, look for people in your area on Instagram or Facebook groups.

Stabilizer
If you are keeping your balance well with your equipment, maybe it is time to try a smaller stabilizer, this will make your foil lift a little easier, the downside is that you will also lose a little stability but with practice you will get it back. You can also look at the thickness, the thinner the thickness, the lower the drag coefficient (friction).
The mast
In this phase, to optimize pumping, we will have to pump with the foil close to the surface. This means that there is a lot of mast out of the water, so a shorter mast can help with stability. If you already know how to pump, you don’t need as much mast range and you also lose a little weight. Experts usually go with a mast between 70 and 75 cms, so if you are using a longer mast, definitely look for a shorter one, although at least stay at 65 cms.
The board
If you are at this level you already know that you like this sport, so if you don’t have one already, I recommend getting a board with an EVA foam surface and a carbon base to give it rigidity and improve pumping efficiency a little.
It can be a specific pump foil board, like the ones I gave you examples of in this article, they are available for 400 euros new, and for less second hand. It can also be a carbon-reinforced kite board, or you can even find second hand boards handmade by handymen who made their first carbon pump foil board. (example photo)
