During my learning process to optimize my pumpfoil style I switched from the Gong Veloce XXL front wing to the Gong Sirus L:
- Veloce XXL V1 – 107cm wingspan and 1900cm2 area, 1.8cm thickness
- Sirus L V2- 116cm wingspan and 1450cm2 area, 1.7cm thickness

Despite having less area when I changed to the Sirus I noticed a little more support and glide, due to its larger wingspan and being a little less thick, but the first impression was that there was not much difference.
It took me 2 or 3 jumps to get used to the change in style, they are not very different in that sense. I was worried about losing agility in turns due to its larger wingspan, but after 4 or 5 jumps of adaptation I did not notice any more difficulty when turning.

When I went for a long run to compare the time and length I saw that I barely made it past the 40 seconds I could hold with the Veloce XXL, compared to the 50 seconds I could hold with the Gong Sirus L. It seems like little but it’s 25% more and it was soon after changing the wing.
In the following sessions, I set out to optimize my pumping with the advice I give in the intermediate tutorial and I was soon able to get more out of the new Sirus L wing since in 3 more sessions I managed to reach 1’10” which would already represent a 75% improvement compared to the Veloce XXL.

In conclusion, I think I was right in buying the Veloce XXL. It is a good wing to progress when learning pumpfoil when you come from a low aspect foil, and to pump for 30 seconds and play without much effort. But if your goal, like mine, is to increase your time and space, the change to Sirus L is worth it and it is very noticeable.
