Some people recommend this starting point for beginners, but I don’t. I think it’s much easier to start by running along the pier with your hands on the board. However, I do see it as a new challenge for people who already know how to pump.
Ideally, you should have a high pier with a space underneath for the stab. Position the foil almost at the water’s surface. Place your hands at the front of the board. For reference, my board in the video is 95cm long, and the foil is positioned as far back as possible. Jump forward, pushing off the board with both your hands and knees as you land. After the initial push with your knees, jump up and perform a few quick pumps to gain speed and height.
