A lot of people recommend that before you start pumping you just want to be quiet and have the board sink because in theory you can’t learn to pump without learning before you glide. I don’t agree.
In my experience, if you intend to have a good time, you should be quiet about the tabla’s speed, and you will lose speed if your pies are not perfect.
In my case I learned to bomb without only glide (and more quickly than the majority that you see on the internet). So I recommend that you intend to pump from the first start, it will be a very difficult to pump well but if it is active you will be more easy to react and jump from the table adequately to avoid collisions with the foil.
Right now (the first 2 or 3 sessions) the goal is not to pump well, it is to continue learning goal 2 (jumping on the board). But in the meantime you can take advantage of good jumps to get a feel for the board’s responses to the movements of your feet. At this point there is nothing theoretical to learn, just get a feel for it.
