I have seen some fat people practising pump foil, obviously the heavier they are the more difficult it will be, but once you have learnt it I think that technique is more important than weight.
Age is not a limitation either. I learned it at 45 years old and I see that I have a better pace than some younger people so age doesn’t seem to be a key factor. I’ve also seen many videos of people older than me mastering foil without any problems..
Pumping is quite different from other sliding sports such as surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, but it is clear that it helps somewhat. If you have no experience in any of these I suppose it will be more difficult for you, but if you are here it seems strange to me that you have never practised any of the above.
The main requirement is desire and perseverance as you have to have a lot of willpower to do 50 failed jumps in a row and keep trying, many will fail using other excuses (the equipment, the price, the balance, I am not good at it…) but with desire and perseverance I think that everyone can achieve it.
